Australia tackles loot boxes

This is going to be a short update for our followers.  It was recently brought to our attention by the Australian Communications and Media Authority about a current inquiry into loot boxes.

The inquiry into gaming micro-transactions for chance-based items is due to be reported on September 17th, 2018.  All submissions have already be closed but there seems to be one more hearing scheduled for August 17th, 2018 in Melbourne.

The matter was referred to the Environment and Communications Reference Committee to research and report.

On  a side note, when I started this almost two years ago, my original organizers and myself all agreed change would come from Australia or the UK based on a strong history of consumer protection.  Since then we where surprised by other countries we overlooked, but it is refreshing and reaffirming to see Australia living up to their reputation.
